We stayed for the September school holidays and it was a perfect family experience for kids aged 6 and 8. The evening music was great, the kids loved the arts and craft, the campground was beautiful and shady and grassy and the lake was just gorgeous. We have been telling all our friends to come next year! Great family experience!

Great experience we stayed a few nights as a family of four with two children under three. We really enjoyed the laid back family atmosphere, food, music and hot showers ☺️

Loved the glamping tents, beautiful lake to swim in, morning yoga, nature journaling workshop, good food options, beautiful site and great live music at night. Overall we had a great time. A few more activities for kids and teens would have been nice and would be good to be able swim in the lake later than 4:30pm.

3 nights stay in cabin during Sept break was fantastic. Cabin was so good, perfect set-up, so comfortable and easy to be in for a few days. The lake was lovely and the whole atmosphere was very relax and peaceful. Activities everyday if you want to, cheap home cook food onsite in the cafe. Great discovery, highly recommend.

Lake Gkula Camping is a peaceful way to experience and appreciate the Woodford Folk Festival site. The lake offers a refreshing swim, and the general store has anything you may have forgotten to pack - plus coffee and meals. The program is simple and quite sparse, so the experience is more about taking it easy, resting, enjoying time with each other at the lake or around a fire, and slowing down. Great to camp with facilities nearby like warm showers, flushing toilets, and bins.

Superb….. being a not for profit means its based on the whole community benefiting ; which Means the whole camping event is wonderful and no corners are cut. We go 3 times a year to woodford lake camping and its become a family tradition now.

As a first time camper, we are really happy with the campground. Plenty of spaces. Best part is toilets are serviced regularly. Lake is clean and awesome to swim.

First thing I would like to say as we arrived the grass was knee-high was not mowed or tidied. So when you walk through the grass you’re either got grass seeds on you or frost in the morning with wet slippers. Very disappointed at this campsite not very well maintained. Maybe they should pay somebody to mow the lawn rather than only have volunteers. I think they make enough money. I will not be coming to this place again. You can’t have campfires. You can’t have pets so so upset about this place. I was expecting something better.

We will NEVER be going back! Way to many rules, no fires, you can't take food or drinks to the swimming area. Kids cant throw a rock in the water, cant dig in the sand, cant swim after 430pm. Showers were cold. Can't walk around with a drink in your hand. To be told we have to go to bed by a certain time. Not a good time at all.

Never coming back! Camped here for the Easter weekend. Arrived and the grounds weren’t maintained. Weeds and long grass, very boggy and wet in some areas (I know you can’t help Mother Nature, but these sections could be blocked off), camping very close to other people- it was like we were packed in like sardines. No fires allowed, told by management that “ if we checked the website it says small fires with restrictions are allowed at campsite”. I checked the website and it clearly states no fires allowed as there are communal fires. No hot water, toilet paper or clean amenities. Spoken to like children and very rude by management. Swimming spot is nice but again too many rules, no food or drinks, no digging in sand. For the amount of money it costs to stay here I expected more.

Had a fabulous weekend at Easter camping. Woodford is always such lovely place and the Lake is beautiful. The onsite cafe was fantastic and so convenient. Will definitely be back.

I had a fantastic time with my nephews. Beautiful camp grounds , swimming lakes, communal fires, a pumping cafe. We enjoyed the music at night and the kids activities. Many of the negative reviews obviously missed the very clear information provided during booking and prior to arrival about the importance of the lake ecosystem. I'm also glad that rules were being enforced for the kids safety as unrestricted access to the lake for three hundred people would have turned into mayhem!

Will never be coming back! Came a long way for the Easter weekend to be very disappointed. Kids got locked in the bathrooms as door won't open. Showers luke warm at best once found the warm ones 2nd night in cold one on the first night. And not allowed fires seriously wtf no sitting by the fire with the kids roasting marshmallows. Got yelled at the pool for taking a drink in ankle deep water while supervising our kids...kids got told off for digging in the beach part. So many rules don't touch the rocks don't dig in the sand can't wear floaties don't jump off rocks.... food was so small kids left hungry... don't come here and expect much!

Stayed for the Easter Long Weekend! Facilities were great. The biggest downside were all the rules in the Lake! No jumping off any rock (we have 2yr olds) weren’t even allowed to jump from the ones that were in the water where they barely made a splash as they jumped. No digging along water’s edge. We got told off basically daily for something different. Kicked out sharp at 4:30! Not even allowed to stay to build sandcastles with our bubs. It was a bit of a downer and we just left like everything our toddlers did, we were going to be told off for doing. We were told to not bring floaties back for our twins also. No blow up safety devices allowed to keep our children afloat. There was no just letting kids be kids. It was shit to be honest. A beach holiday would have been more care free without all the rules and micromanaging us as parents.
Drove a long way to this lake to see it, only to be turned away because we were told that it was only for campers and you couldn't even get a photo! Written nowhere or on the website that it is for private camper use only. Apparently this ia a frequent issue for people visiting the area. A very disappointing day!!!

As seasoned campers I can honestly say Lake Gkula is one of the best camping experiences we’ve ever had. Bushland setting with plenty of space, enough facilities to go round, a beautiful lake for swimming in and a folk inspired concert every night. A great combination.
Plenty to do, with the lake, live music, workshops, walks around the beautiful site. Good food and drink on offer and everything is reasonably priced. Not just a tourist attraction, but a community of people that have worked on regenerating native habitats on the site for decades.

Beautiful place to take the kids. Everything is reasonably priced as well. Staff are super friendly.
We glamped! It was so good. Our own shower, toilet, kitchen with mw, kettle, toaster (no oven), fridge, bbq on veranda with a cooking plate as well. Small dining table with 4 chairs, 2 butterfly chairs outside, 1 queen, and 2 bunk beds in 2nd room. Set high off damp ground. Parking beside the tent. Fabulous!

A wonderful place to relax, walk, swim, find solitude, be creative...the list goes on including a saying from a certain A. Einstein that is possible at Woodfordia - "Look deep into nature and you will understand everything better". Top marks from me.

Such a lovely place to camp! Shady, grassy campsites, underneath the many Tree's planted at Woodfordia over the years. We take our Caravan, and there are good roads & flat sites to suit. The facilities are good, clean toilets & showers, and the Store is handy for anything you need, plus great Coffee. The man made Lake Gkula is amazing, and well maintained, even has Fish and lovely Water plants. It's clean, sparkling, and well designed, with shallow spots for the kids to splash around in, plus big & deep enough for a satisfying swim. This is a magic spot, and a great base to explore surrounding areas as well.

Such a beautiful camping spot, with fabulous coffee! What more could a parent ask for? Maybe a wonderful lake that has life savers?! Oh yes! It has that too!! I try and go every holidays.. Almost didn’t write this review as want to keep it secret.. But also want to support Woodford so here we are. Enjoy! See you there..

Being a regular attendee at Woodford Folk Festival, we go out to the Woodfordia site any chance we can get. When the festival isn't on, it's still a great place to be. There's nothing quite like the peace and magic of the place. Swimming in the lake is a dream and the amenities are always clean.

Such a wonderful place for a relaxing camping holiday. The lake is amazing for all ages. We really enjoyed the communal fires and the childrens area.
